Y'all, I freakin' love homemade pizza. These pizza waffles are essentially a pizza made with a waffle iron. Talk about saving time!
Special thanks to The EdgyVeg for the recipe!
Vegan Pizza Dough
Vegan cheese substitute, like shreds or homemade sauce
Turn on the waffle iron, set it high and let it preheat.
When your iron has preheated, use oil, vegan butter or spray to keep the dough from sticking.
Flour your working surface and roll out tennis ball size amount of pizza dough.
The thickness is up to you; I like to do a combination of thin and thick crust.
Place the dough onto the waffle iron and work quickly.
Start by spreading some pizza sauce onto the crust followed by all of your preferred ingredients focusing on one half, with the cheese substitute last.
Quickly, fold the remaining dough onto the toppings to create what resembles a half moon to make a two-sided goodies-in-the-middle pocket.
Close the lid, by pressing slightly, but don't close it completely, as this will put holes in your pocket. Just let the weight of the lid do most of the work while helping it along slightly.
The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your dough, but you're looking for a golden-brown, crunchy exterior. This should take between 5 & 10 minutes, but you will be able to tell if it’s done, by looking at it.
Carefully remove the pocket from the iron, slice along the lines & enjoy.
